POLICIES FOR FOUNDATION online MEMBERS
The online group for members of Aviculture was created, developed and moderated by the Board of Directors, was designed for a relatively small number of aviculturists. This information is not intended to replace formal study for training technicians.
The aviculturists participating in this course of study, it is important that their privacy be maintained. Membership has been restricted; however, to make sure that the privacy issue is understood, the following rules are set forth.
By your participation in Aviculture Microbiology Foundation Inc. you agree to adhere to the Terms of Service:
1.You will not flame any member of this group in a different public forum based on information obtained through the individual's postings to Aviculture Microbiology.
2. You will not copy, quote or forward any other member's post from this list to
another group or person either while you are a member of Aviculture Microbiology or afterwards. Even with the other member's accord, it might be possible to reveal personal information about others without so intending.
3.You will not share personal information concerning conditions in another member's home or aviary as revealed in posts to this list. This means neither personal addresses or telephone numbers of others shall be shared with third parties, nor information regarding any specific aviary layout, nor information about samples collected for study on a participant's property or place of business.
4. While you are certainly not required to recommend the aviaries represented here, you are not permitted to discuss with third parties health information about a list participant's flock or individual animal which you learned as a result of that individual's posting to this list. If a third party asks you for a recommendation of a list participant and you are hesitant to recommend because of a health issue discussed here, please address the participant privately and directly. It is best to stay away from tallking about your friends or another birds in any manner with regard to demonstrate to others how disease, virus or illness effects birds.
5. You agree that the information presented here is to be considered "informal" and the skills you may learn are to be used solely for your own edification. This forum is not intended to replace veterinary medicine in any way. The participants must work with their own avian veterinarians in using their findings. To perform these tests for other people may be construed as practicing veterinary medicine and this is against the law. One puts their veterinarian on guard by demonstrating to others "my veterinarian says to take this dosage" This is walking a tight rope and putting a veterinarian on that rope without their consent. Watch this very carefully and be considerate of your sponsor, your veterinarian with regard to the law and your ethical responsibility to your veterinarian.
6. You agree not to post dosages of prescribed medications. If you want to
informally discuss these topics, there is a chat room available which can be used as our conference room. This Chat is available to anyone who visits www.aviculturemicrobiology.com you'll find our 'Chat Room' .
7. You agree not to advertise any group other than your own aviary in your posts, not rescue organizations, non-aviary businesses, classified lists or charities. Please do identify your aviary, if you have one, in your signature line.
8.Thank you for your participation with the Aviculture Microbiology Foundation. Now let's go kick some bacterial cellwall!
